Idol out : Fathin Amira

Bye bye AMiRa :(

Just as I was getting to know her a lil better (hey we shared a box of 'Wheatables' last weekend and she told me loads about everything), she had to go :(

I haven't watched tonight's show so I don't know how she did, but I did hear from Justin that the girls weren't 100% tonight. I later heard from Ann Hussein that everyone was SPOT ON during rehearsals, and she thought 'OMG its gonna be an amazing show', and it was such a pity that they didn't do as well during the Live show - nerves I guess. Never underestimate the debilitating power of nerves.

Imo, Amira has been improving week on week. Her vocals were shaky at the beginning, but after last week's MJ performance, I thought she would have it in the bag this week. Plus, I heard her rehearsing tonight's song over the weekend (although not quick enough to whip my phone into vid mode to capture it!), it was full-on phwoar!

Sigh, am gonna miss that lil cilipadi - she was so random. Dazed one minute - opinionated the next.

Here's Amira's exit song and exit interview for IDOL TV. I shall call my vid 'The B-roll' from now on - you know, like the extra side profile camera MTV shows always have - just so editors have another perspective when they put the show together :).

After singing the song, she came off stage and was smiley, but there were tears in her eyes. :( But by the time she reached the green room for her exit interview - she was bac to the strong and positive Amira!

Spend the day at Neverland with him and ask him to give me a tour of the place.

Did you believe the child molestation allegations?
I totally don’t believe it. I believe MJ loves children. He believes in children and writes songs for them. Children are his inspiration. He wouldn’t do that to them.

When you first heard that there would be an MJ themed spectacular, what was your reaction? And now that you’re through and will be doing an MJ song, how do you feel?
Initially, I thought ‘OMG! This is my one chance to show off all my MJ stuff on a stage! Yes!’.
Now I’m just pretty much excited and looking forward to the performance. When we were young, my brother and I used to impersonate MJ’s moves, and now I get a chance to do it onstage? What? I’m so excited!

What Asian culture fascinates you the most?

As a Malay, I respect my culture, but the culture that fascinates me the most is the local Balinese culture. They are so very friendly and polite!

What Asian trait are you most proud of?

I like that Asians are generally very nice, respectful, humble and down-to-earth.

What is the one Asian superstition you've held on to since you were a child?

My grandma always used to tell me, when elders tell you NOT to do something, you should always listen, because they have an instinct that something may happen.

Random facts about Amira :

• Amira likes to sing in the bathroom. (Who doesn't? The accoustics are fab!
• She goes by the nickname 'shawty phat' online - aw what a cute nick.
• Has a thing for hairstyles. Amira likes experimenting. She's had the Shirley Temple curls, corn rows, cropped hair and something that looked a bit like an afro (from what I can see on facebook!).
• Has an awesome Facebook fanclub run by her incredibly enthuasiatic Aunt!
• Her dad is a well-known and established musician - free vocal coaching at home!
• Her facebook updates are crazy cryptic stuff that I still can't decipher (I'm thinking it must be the age gap thats stunting me.

summerr thinks you'll love Amira because :

She's a little Chillipadi Powerhouse. Petite and young, Amira is probably second only to Tabby in terms of 'belting' power.

I love her new look, but I hope she'll keep things young and leave the power ballads to Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. I prefer it when she plays up the youth card. Let's see what she does with Christina Aguilera's 'Hurt'. (see below vid clip for a sample)

Definitely bubbly and random. Have you seen her updates on facebook? I can't make head or tail of it its that random. But I guess its true to her own style, which Amira has in bucket loads. Official blogger Iz nicknamed her funky hair cos she always has new funky hairstyles.

I want to re-nick her Chilli Padi because you just don't expect THAT voice to come out of that little girl.

If music is your first love, what is your second?

I love hairstyling. I love playing around with hairstyles and dare to have different styles . I did had my own hair phenomenon. From the normal tomboy hair (really short) , to the concave hairstyle to the rihanna hairstyle, to the curly hair (like an Afro!), to my favourite hairstyle, The Braids (like cornrows!)! Then I went back to the short hair, and most recent I got 'funky' hair from the makeover by our hair sponsors Jeric Salon.

Is that a Hair phenomenon or what?

Secret Single Behaviour : What do you do on your own that no one knows about?

I spend 15-20 minutes in the toilet dancing and singing . Like as if I'm in a show.

I love to dance my butt off in my room and blast the stereo . When my parents or granddad come into the room ... I'll stop and like make an innocent face. They'll be like 'What were you doing just now?' And I'll be like 'Nothing....' :)

I dip nuggets or French fries with ice cream haha , yumm yumm .....
(ooh..I do that too! Fries + vanilla ice cream = superb!)

summerr's take :

Definitely one to watch. Amira was the only person on solo day that the judges allowed to finish her solo. She was THAT good. She sang Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You" and it was pitch perfect on every note.

She's also the youngest contestant this season. I hope viewers will vote for her because I think she is so very talented, although, a little shy at times. :)
