OMG Challenger #2 : Razlyna

Diva voice without the Diva attitude...

The first thing I notice about Razlyna is her gorgeous warm smile and sparkly eyes. What a pretty girl. And when she opens her mouth to speak, wah, what a husky voice, this one sure damn good vocals! The next thing I notice are the bandages on her hands. What happened?

"Oh I was just in a motorcycle accident earlier today. I was riding pilliant. I've got scrapes and scratches everywhere, which is why I'm so covered up today. Oh and by the way, call me Raz."

Well accident or no, Raz is here, all made up and ready to go. What a trooper!

"Yea, once you've been doing this a while, you learn to perform through whatever sickness or pain you have, because you have to be professional."

So why did you join OMG!?

For the exposure. My passion is singing.

What would you do with the $50k if you won?

I would like to study music. I want to go to music school. Currently I go for short courses. So if I had the money, I would like to go to a proper good school to do a full course on pop vocals and learn all the taugeh (huh? beansprouts?) All the music notes! (oh yes, they do look a bit like taugeh!)

What do you do in real life?

I'm a singer in Clarke Quay at Highlander. I sing six nights a week. 3 sets a night on weeknights and 4 sets a night on weekends. Each set is about 45 minutes. Its hard work and takes a lot of experience. I've been singing professionally for about 2 years now. Before that I used to sing a lot of Japanese songs. I taught myself Japanese, I can read Japanese! I even joined a lot of J-Pop competitions and won one! I was just really into J-pop!

Who is your inspiration?

Now? Alicia Keys. I love her. I even have the same earrings she had in her "Doesn't Mean Anything" music video! I'm wearing them now :) (She's so cute la this girl!) My favourite Alicia Keys song is "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart". I even joined the Alicia Keys Lookalike/Soundalike contest. It was the same time the Usher one was going on, the one that Taufik (Batisah) won. But I didn't win, I got Miss Congeniality.

Who do you think you'll be challenging?

Probably the Singapore Char Siew Baos or the Vertical Dancers. Not much to choose from. Probably the singers, so its singer versus singer. All the other singers are immune already :(

What do you think of our judges?

I like them. They are honest and its really good to have them as judges cos they are different.

Any one judge you think you need to impress more than the others?

Beatrice. I really like her personality.

What will you be singing?

I'll be singing "Mercy" by Duffy.
