Happy OMG Day! ...well, sort of....

Remember ah - No Show  Tonight!
Just in case y'all thought there was a show tonight, there isn't. Cos our Top 5 are busy rehearsing like mad - the OMG! Grand Finals are exactly a week away.

Sean, Jill-Marie, CJ Crew, IFLY and Luminiq Crew have been holed up in a large warehouse-like studio somewhere in the back lots of Caldecott Hill. The walkway to that empty (and very creepy) studio is so snakey, I always get lost going there. Its like, start at the makeup unit, go round the back, then left, right, past the benches, then left, up three steps, turn right, cross mini drain, take slope, turn left, then turn right round the green bin, then go down stairs, then left again, then up another slope, past the smoking area, some stairs, go through a door, then another door...and then...maybe...you're there.

Ok, maybe I exaggerated a bit. But only a bit. Tonight, I will video this walk and post it up.

Anyway, so yea, the Top 5 have been rehearsing their moves. Last Sunday, right after the roadshow, the dancers (or more like, non-singers) were all whisked back to Mediacorp for an all-night session with Zaki. Here are the pics from Sunday night's rehearsal....

While everyone was just hangin' around and waiting for Zaki to arrive, it became an impromptu Luminiq Crew workshop. IFLY and CJ Crew were both getting pointers from the Luminiq boys on how to do their tricks, and the boys were more than happy to share. (Feel free to check out my twitpics from that night here - sorry for the blurry pics, lighting wasn't very good there and if you see anything ghostly, please don't tell me!)

I had one more pic of the IFLY girls trying to balance on one hand, but erm, I didn't realise my angle was so unglam, so I've decided to trash that pic.

The minute Zaki arrived, it was all business for everyone. Each group broke off to a corner to huddle and work out their moves.

While IFLY worked on their routine, CJ Crew was off working on theirs too..

And in another corner, we had some familiar faces hangin' out at the Blog TV set. Rhythm 'N' Moves boys Fen, Derek and Liang Bin were back along with Danny Koh, cos they're all part of the big opening item that involves all the non-singers. I wanted to say 'dancer's segment' but Danny reminded me that he doesn't 'dance' :) Of course, Danny will be doing fire....

After a long night of waiting and rehearsing and waiting again, the night's almost over.

Tonight, its another round of full rehearsals for these guys PLUS the singers. And from here on in, its rehearsals/wardrobe/imaging/blocking/reviews/individual rehearsals every day til next Wednesday. I'll be heading over to that creepy studio tonight at 7pm, so follow my tweets/twitpics to get a sneak peek at what your OMGers are up to tonight.

Bye Bye Desert Roses & Vertical Dancers :(

What the ....?
Vertical Dancers out??! Desert Roses out??! What? How?
That's pretty much the reaction of everyone and their cat when the results were announced last night. Don't know about you, but I totally didn't see THAT one coming. Dayum. Btw, I still hate the red light/green light thing, really brutal. I'd rather just have the lights go out. The red light is like the proverbial "EENNNKKK!" buzzer sound.
We all know the reality of the show is that every week people have to go home.

And our favourites (if they don't wind up winning), will have to go sooner or later because there can be only one winner right? But it still comes as  a shock to me when people go home. Strange right? It was the same with Idol. And like Idol days, it was really really sad to see the girls go.

We were all holding back tears as they trooped off stage and headed to the dressing rooms. I think Miko and Irene were so distraught that they ran away from me to avoid doing an exit interview. Sorry girls, didn't mean to make you 'hide'.

I did manage to catch the Roses for a last few words. They were thoroughly disappointed too. I will definitely miss these girls, they are such lovely people. Here's their short exit video.

If you didn't catch what Sophia was saying (sorry background noise a bit loud ah, Jill-Marie was performing I think), she said she wished that we would have been able to see their performance because they had come up with something really different, as can be seen by their unusual costumes. She also apologised for not getting through (aww! They really are just the sweetest people!) The PVC peekaboo catsuits are inspired by the movie Catwoman for the night's theme of Lights, Camera, Action. Those who saw their rehearsals in the afternoon said it was really different - dayum! I say it again, DAYUM!

The Vertical Dancers also had something different planned, a routine that involved poles and chairs. Maybe something 'cabaret'-ish from the looks of their outfits?

Check out these pics I took backstage before the show when the Roses were fooling about with the rest.

Here's my fave pic of the lot - Sophia and Jessy whipping Dom into shape! Bet you all our hot blooded male viewers are regretting not voting enough now :)

Lastly some pics of the girls posing with Jill ala Charlie's Angels cos Jill had hair extensions last night - weird hair extensions hahah. She accidentally 'shot' something out of that BB gun by the way and it hit the make-up artist!

Overheard today that producers have invited the Top 8 to come back on the show for the finale, if the Roses and Vertical Dancers do come back, I hope they'll do the routines that they were meant to do last night.

Good luck girls in all your future endeavours, it was certainly a blast hanging out with you guys - stay in touch k!

ps, Happy Birthday Irene for tomorrow!

OMG Challenger #1 : Vertical Dancers

Excuse Me, We're Not Pole Dancers K!
Keep your mind on the straight and narrow folks, OMG Challengers Miko, 30, and Irene, 20, are NOT pole dancers, they are vertical dancers. So don't think sex and sleaze please. We'll have none of that here, we're a family show remember!

So you say this is NOT pole-dancing.
No, this is not those pole-dancing (like you see in strip clubs). The pole you see tonight is just one of the props, we can basically dance vertically up anything. We are vertical dancers. Its not a sleazy type of dancing, its actually a fitness-based routine, you have to train quite hard to do this. Its not easy.

How do you know each other?
Miko : I am from Viva Vertical in KL...
Irene : And I am from Groove Dance School here in Singapore. We've done a few joint performances through our schools, and since then have been dancing together for competitions. We've been performing together for about 1 year 2 months now.

How did you get into vertical dancing?
Irene : I started dancing since young, and then a friend introduced me to this and I really liked it.
Miko : I also used to be a dancer, and then I got into this for fitness. (You should really check out her biceps - this woman's got muscle!)

So why did you girls join OMG!?
Irene : Well, the prize money is part of it. I can use it to pay for my school fees. I'm currently pursuing a degree in Accounting & Finance.
Miko : We also want to showcase vertical dancing, get more exposure for this kind of sport and also gain performing experience for ourselves.

Who will you be challenging tonight?
Elvis.

If you get through tonight, how will you up your game when you get challenged?
We have different dance styles, different tricks, different music and of course different props. We don't just use poles. Like we said, we are vertical dancers, NOT pole dancers. (this I gotta see - what else can they dance up? Oooh, maybe Cirque type stuff! Like silk clothes, ropes etc. Interesting......!)

Ep2 of One Moment Of Glory is ON TONIGHT, 8pm! DO NOT MISS IT!
Watch the show tonight and if you think you can take any of these contenders/challengers on with your superb talent, producers want YOU on the show - just email omg@mediacorp.com.sg!
