(btw, am lovin' your outfit - you lookin' goood boy!)If you'd like to keep up with Justin and his life as a pre-med student in San Francisco, USA, check out this blog here. Or stalk him on twitter here and facebook here.

Last but certainly not least, here's @izked's last video for Singapore Idol 2009, shot backstage at Celebrate 2010...sigh, one last shout out to the wonderful people who made 2009 a great idol-esque year for me (and that includes you too Iz!). Great song choice - its still fresh in everyone's minds, and aigh just right to tug at the heart strings!

Uncle Ken speaks + 3 other vids!
QUICKIE POST!
I'm like rushing off to catch the Idols at their first MediaCorp Tradeshow at the Ritz Carlton (waah so glam). But I thought I'd put these vids up first before I go so you all got something to read/watch/hear this afternoon! :)I managed to catch Uncle Ken right after the show - in a stairwell no less (haha, I held his car keys hostage until he agreed to talk to me!) and here are his thoughts about the rest of the season and what he thinks about the contestants and the voting trend. Thank you Ken for the impromptu interview :) Much appreciated!
*I shall be more prepared next time and shoot him more specific questions!*
This is my quick mini interview with Justin while he was packing up at the green room. :( I am so gonna miss Justin - have grown rather fond of him - his humour, his Apple products (iphone, macbook, ipod etc), and just HIM la. I've gotten to know him a little better and he's always there with a ready smile and hug whenever he sees me :)
I have to say I was a little surprised that he was in the bottom 3 because I thought he had a huge following judging from his Piano Show results. Perhaps the votes were close. But as much as I don't want to see Justin eliminated, I would have been devastated if it was Tabby - I'll tell you why in my next post, in the meantime - I gotta dash - I only have 10 mins to post this and get my ass to Ritz Carlton!
Nah, some lovely singing of my favourite tune Belaian Jiwa by Syarif (Sleeq) and Airi while hangin around at keycheck! Awesome stuff!
xoxo, s.

ps. catch my tweets/pics from the Ritz Carlton event later!

Singapore Idol Top 13 : Justin Jap
Justin Jap, 21
10 February 1988
Single
Performing :
"Heartless" by Kris Allen/Kanye West
Vote for
Justin :
Call 1900 112 1208
or sms '8' to IDOLS (43657)
each call/sms costs 60cents.
lines are open tonight from 8pm.
Random facts about Justin :
- Justin is an only child.
- He hates Crocs and thinks they look grotesque, and every time he sees a pair, he has to fight the urge to plug up the holes! (LOL! so cute!)
- Justin is a gym rat - he loves gymming! (Girls, there are biceps worth ogling under those sleeves!)
- He is a big presence on Twitter .... he even tweets what he's about to eat for breakfast :)
- Can sing chinese songs very well because he is effectively bilingual - now that would be good for marketing purposes.
- He likes to mix it up by wearing bowties. (and also record Youtube videos topless :))
Justin is the rare Chinese Singaporean who can really sing R&B. Check out his vids on Youtube and you'll know what I mean.
He's also quirky and the kind of guy that really grows on you once you get to know him. On the one hand though, he's so quirky I'm not sure he'll be believable as a doctor (he's always cracking jokes). So he'd better to this Idol thing right.
Justin is also an entertainment junkie (like me) who knows as much as probably Perez Hilton because the info is all IV-ed to him via his iPhone thats always with him.
So will the Singing Doctor (he hates this reference btw) win your votes?
Here's the vid Izked got at key check two weeks ago.
And here's the vid I shot last week at choreo, giving you a sample of 'Heartless'.
Finally, here's Justin's performance clip from the Piano Show that won him public vote spot into the Top 13.
Want to know more about Justin, you can check out his Top 24 profile here.

IT'S IDOL DAY! The One With All The Vids
Its' Idol Day y'all!
Jon was a little tired and blur when I recorded this - but he still looks kinda adorable right girls? Aw, give the poor soul a hug and some reassurance.
(cue Idol music te ne ne ne ne ne ne ne....)
OMG, today we will know who the other 6 of the Top 12 will be. No pressure Group 2. No pressure at all.
In the spirit of 'No pressure', I'd like to share with you all a couple of vids and pics that were taken during Group 2's Vocal Training last Saturday (mostly of those who were hanging around, waitin' for their turn) and Choreo on Monday.
Its really just vids of the LODIs bein' themselves ie silly.... so sit back, relax, have a laugh...
Jon was a little tired and blur when I recorded this - but he still looks kinda adorable right girls? Aw, give the poor soul a hug and some reassurance.
You're not a noob la... (whatever that is...testament to my age that I have no idea what noob is)
I loved that one of Mae - she is hilarious I tell you.
Next up, Justin decides to be the Idol Behind-The-Scenes reporter. Ahem, pass or fail? LOL!
Mae - fail! Very difficult (to) interview!
All funny stuff aside, here are some pretty awesome clips of a Sezairi/Justin showcase. Gabby later takes the guitar over too with Linger (check it out on Youtube if you didn't see it in my earlier post).
Hope you enjoyed that? I certainly did. Its a pity we don't have much of Sam and Sylvia who went off earlier. You can see vids of Ben, Duane and Gabrielle taken from the same day from my earlier post here. Or browse summerr77 at Youtube.
Today's D-Day for Group 2. Everyone's due at Mediacorp first thing in the morning and they'll be spending the day there doing run throughs for tonight's show.
I'll be at MediaCorp later this evening to catch up with Group 2, and also Group 1 who will be coming in to support their Idol friends too. Look out for my tweets and twitpics this evening!
Lets all hope for a great show (no dead air, no bad jokes, no bad performances) and hope your favourites go through - VOTE ppl!

3 More Days to Idol Day!
Its Sunday night.
That means its 3 MORE DAYS to IDOL DAY!
(cue Idol theme music...te ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne .... <-- apparently dougie's fb wall was flooded with 'theme' music when they found out he was Top24! LOL!)
In case I haven't mentioned it before, Wednesday shall henceforth cease to be known as 'Wednesday' and shall be known simply as 'Idol Day'!
So what happens in the run up to Idol Day? The typical drill would go something like this ...
1. Roadshows (Sat) - CHECK!
2. Vocal Training (Sat) - CHECK!
3. Choreo with Zaki (Mon) - ooh tomorrow!
4. Radio Interviews on 987FM (Mon, Tues, Wed) - comin' up!
So tomorrow (Monday) morning, tune in to 987FM at 9am sharp to catch Dan & Young interviewing 4 of this week's performing Idols - Sezairi (woot!), Gabrielle(woot!), Sylvia (woot!) and Duane (double woot cos he's just da sweetest! He asked me what 'pimp out your profile meant'...sigh..to which the other idols replied, Duane lets not use the word 'pimp' its a bad word :) agree!)
Alarm it on your mobile NOW!
(then repeat the same alarm for Toosday and Idol Day)
ROADSHOW @ Lot One, CCK.
So yesterday, Saturday was the Top 24 Group 2's roadshow at Lot One. I didn't get to go, due to some prior commitments, but I heard it was a BLAST!
On Blogger duty was Official Blogger Iz who twitpicced like crazy (broke already not?) - go check out the pics here if you haven't - and he should be putting up the vids pretty soon. I personally can't wait to see the vids. According to him the crowd went CRAZY! Lots of hyper little girls, apparently Jonathan has fans :)
Malaque, Ryan and Syltra (from Group 1) were there to support their Idol pals (aww sweet!) and Gabrielle's mom made fans for her fans! Thats right! A Gabby fan for Gabby's fans! Lovin' Gabs' mom right now. She's on my 'Coolest Moms Ever' List right now, right behind Lorelai Gilmore and Gwen Stefani, what with the synchronised tattoo and all. (Damn thats cool, gotta up my cool quotient later when The Daughter grows up!)
The event went off almost without a hitch. Apparently Mae screwed up a line or two, no matter sweetie, we still love ya, you know that right?! She's like Ta Jie (big sista) Mae, everyone loves her and she really takes care of everyone. She feeds them, gives them pep talks, hugs, etc. WE LOVE U MAE!
According to Izk, everyone got a lots of lovin' from the crowd. When I asked Duane how it all went, did people scream for him, he was so shy. He shyly recounted how he told the crowd to vote for him, Mr Pussycat Doll and then proceeded to blush a little, aw can I just say Duane is just the sweetest kid. And you can see the other Idols are really protective of him too :)
Justin apparently said something about voting for him if you like slow songs....*kok* Justin must have had a blonde moment - do not pigeon hole yourself like that so early on! I am here to say - he can sing fast songs too, in fact he can sing period (see his profile vid and my vids on Youtube from the vocal training - links below later, cos haven't finished uploading yet!).
Anyway, after the eventful event (see how I had some cheesy alliteration goin' on there... no applause necessary), everyone headed back to Caldecott Hill for their 5pm sharp vocal training session. 10 minutes each with Vocal Coach Ann Hussein. Chop Chop guys!
And it was really chop chop! I arrived at about 5.30pm, and already Sam, Sylvia and Charlene were practically out the door! I managed to snap like one pic of Sam before she flew out with a big smile cos she got to go off early!
Saturday night, everyone has plans right? My plan, was to hang with the LODIs.
So there I was, hi-fivin' Iz, takin' over the blogger/twitpic duties, and suddenly the mood went from up to down. By the end of the evening, suffice it to say, everyone was just dead tired and ready to go home.
I'm uploading the vids of whoever was hangin' around that night (and singing) up on Youtube now, will link it all up here (and post the vids also on a separate post) once they are all done :)
In the meantime enjoy the following, vids of 3 of the 4 (sorry, didn't quite catch Sylvia as she was off right after her session) you'll be hearing on radio tomorrow morning :
Gabrielle sings the Cranberries favourite 'Linger'.... guest starring Sezairi's guitar.
Duane practicing David Archuleta's "A Little Too Not Over You" in the hallway. Starts off a little shaky at first, but once he hits his stride at the chorus - lovely!
Airi doin' his own song called "Something Personal". (You can listen to it at his Purevolume page here). I likey much.
Sorry Sylvia babe, you ran off so quick, I didn't get a chance to video you singing anything! If you're interested to hear Sylvia sing, check out her profile here.
Likewise, you can go to any of Group 2's profile pages to learn more about them if you haven't, the links are on the right sidebar of my blog.
Posting more soon, gotta get this one up and our first to remind all you peeps about tomorrow's radio interview...987FM @ 9am - Airi, Gabby, Duane & Sylvia. Don't miss it!
Much love to muh LODIs,
xoxo, s.

Singapore Idol Top 24 : Justin Jap
In The Shower with :

ON ART:
I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil, but I learnt how to do so properly when my parents sent me for art lessons at the age of 4. As time progressed, my interest intensified and my parents realized that I had an aptitude for drawing & painting. As such, they signed me up for various drawing competitions. I often came in 1st, or at least in the top 3 (yes, I'm rather proud of it :D). However, as I departed from childhood and into adolescence (ie after PSLE), I stopped my art lessons due to heavy school commitments. But even then, I still continued to draw whenever I could. Nowadays I just doodle, but I do sit down occasionally and try to paint like I used to. Like every art buff, I enjoy visiting museums, especially when I'm abroad. My favourite art museum so far? The Louvre.

Justin is indeed a geek. Such a lovable one too, and a very Chic geek mind you. He totes only Apple stuff!
iPhone - check!
iBook - check!
iPod - check!
*envy*
Justin has also admitted to me that he likes studying. Which will suit him fine because he's due to enter PRE-MED in the U.S. if Idol doesn't work out for him. Pre-med guys! Talk about your smarts! He can be the Singing Doctor :)

Quick facts about Justin :
Lives in : North
Occupation : Student
Favourite MJ song : I'll Be There
Favourite Judge : Ken
Single/Attached? : Single
Who does she think will win Idol 3? Mae.
If music is your first love, what is your second?
IT'S A TIE BETWEEN FOOD & ART as my 2nd GREATEST LOVE(s)!
ON FOOD:
Both my maternal & paternal grandmothers, as well as my mother, are wonderful cooks (well nowadays maybe not so much for my paternal grandma cos she's got dementia and all). So I've picked up a thing or two from them. If you live to eat, it's only natural to love cooking too. Aside from the family recipes that I have been taught, I also pick up new recipes from tv shows (Discovery Travel & Living - the best channel ever created for domesticated rats like myself) and cookbooks. Cooking, like housework, is very satisfying and therapeutic for me.
(ooh we gotta do an Idol potluck!)

Secret Single Behaviour : What do you do on your own that no one knows about?
I HAVE to floss my teeth after eating apples because I have a snaggle-tooth that always traps bits of apple in them. If I don't floss I'd feel really uncomfortable with myself.
I only eat green and yellow Skittles.
When I'm in the shower, I'll play music from my phone and dance like a loon! (PS: I have two left feet by the way, so when I say "dance", I don't actually mean dancing. More like flailing.)
I have a child-like obsession with numbers and I like to count the number of steps every time I take the stairs.

I'm lovin' Justin. He's a real character. Sweet as can be, funny to the bone and just all-round nice guy. Ever ready to help non-geeks like myself (and quite a number of the other LODIs), he's affable, quirky (which I likey) and genuine.
We haven't seen much of him from Episodes 1 - 4, so I'm hoping he'll put up more videos of himself now that his youtube channel is up (see links at the end of this post), so that we can get to know him better.
On top of being great friend material, (and apparently draw to save his life) Justin can sing his face off too. Check out the video below which I found on youtube, not on his official youtube page. Just listen to that voice....talent talent talent. People please vote and put talent like this through ok?
One of my favourite songs from the movie Beaches (oops, did that statement just reveal how old I am?)
