Glee in just 6 days! (for me at least woot!)

GLEE over GG?
Hehe, doesn't this Gossip Girl ad for The Gap look like its part of Glee? Ahh, the melding of my two fave shows. Anyway, I digress...

I thought I was more excited about Gossip Girl's return last month than I would be about Glee, but nope, I am actually MORE excited about Glee coming back. (Check out this new Glee cast promo pic I found, click on image to enlarge ;))

I have SOOOOO missed the breath of fresh air that is the show some people have dubbed 'High School Musical for adults'. What la...who wants to be an adult when you can immerse yourself in music and comedy for a full 42 minutes? (And live the evil double life of arrogance and sharp wit with no regrets vicariously via Sue Sylvester? I'm a big fan of that character, loved how they injected a little smidgen of a heart when they showed her caring for her retarded sister - aww.)

Anyway I have been waiting and waiting for Glee to return and I just got my mioTV catalogue in the mail today and waaah ...super happy that its returning next week, 16th April! Woot! And as I was flipping through it, was salivating cos there are so many shows I wanna watch (where am I gonna find the time people?)

Anyway, here are the shows I'm earmarking to watch this month on mio :

Movies :
  • Post Grad (Alexis Bledel!! love her!)
  • Did You Hear About The Morgans (heard this bombed, but I missed it at the theatres!)
  • (500) Days Of Summer (I've been wanting to watch this for like FOREVER)
  • Surrogates (I've always liked Bruce Willis)
  • ..and can you believe... 'Where Got Ghost?' (the Jack Neo one...waaat, the pic looks interesting wat - support local!)

TV Series :
  • Glee (comin' back April 15th!!!!)
  • Romantically Challenged (been following Alyssa Milano's tweets...waiting to watch this!)
  • V (cos the lead alien looks hawt!)
  • Happy Town (looks very Twin Peaks-ish, shall give it a try)

Your thoughts? Have you guys watched any of the above? Anything to recommend? What you guys are watching on TV these days, apart from American Idol, which btw, I'm so bored of. I didn't even watch the 'Beatles' episode this week cos I read online who got the lowest votes.

I was surprised the judges saved Michael Lynche. He's talented but I don't think he's gonna win. My theory? And its only a theory - its possible it was just too early for the only black guy left standing to go home. The show would lose a large viewer demographic.

Then again, if he WAS out, it would definitely cause a huge uproar too. Especially since Tim's still around :) LOL.

But the 'save'..... I don't know dawg....I mean, what if Siobhan or Lee or Crystal don't make it to Top 5? No more saves....how?

US TV Addiction

Know what I'm full of? Glee.

Ok, I know, lame joke, give me the 'L', but you know that expression, 'filled with glee'? That expression is so apt because thats exactly how I feel whenever I watch Glee. I've been meaning to share about this lil' gem of a show for ages, but keep getting sidetracked by the Idol stuff I have to share.
Anyway, I also wanna talk about Glee cos every time I watch it I find myself thinking hey these are great song choices for the Idols. I watched Episode 2 and the lead geek, I mean character, Rachel (dark haired girl below the cheerleader), covered Rihanna's 'Take A Bow' (see vid below) and OMG I could so see Tabby or Sylvia singing it. The minute I watched it, I wanted to show it to either girl so they could learn how to emote like her ....

So many good songs on Glee that the Idols can take a cue from in terms of song selection because the songs they normally do, especially the solos (with arrangements obviously tailored for solo performances), are poised to showcase the singer's vocals.

Here's the vid I mentioned above. Watch.
The character singing is Rachel Berry, played by the very talented Lea Michele. (Yes, they all really sing on the show. No voice stand-ins on this show, most of the actors have theatre backgrounds.)

If you haven't watched Glee, its about time you start ;)
There's just something so appealing about their Zero to Hero stories.
The tagline goes : "A Biting Comedy For The Underdog In All Of Us."

xoxo, s.

ps. You can catch Glee on mio Tv.

pps. Can you tell who're supposed to be the losers in the show? :P love their promo posters. Suddenly its cool to be a Loser ;)

ppps. One more hilarious Glee vid at my other blog :)

TV is BACK!

The TV addict in me is SUPER DUPER happy, because the new fall season has begun in the U.S. which means all the new shows should be filtering our way soon (as soon as 24hrs after its U.S. telecast if you have mio TV woot!)

So many things to watch, so little hours in the day......
(am posting this here instead of summerrstv.wordpress.com cos I find blogspot is so much faster to post in than wordpress...will do a transfer later on)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching :
Survivor Samoa
(premiering TONIGHT on Ch5, 6.30pm, encore at 11 I think!)
I'm hoping it'll be as exciting as last season's Survivor Tocantins (to-ken-shins)...awesome gameplay by JT, I'm so glad he won - he's such a sweetheart and I loved to hate the eccentric Coach character too...what was he ON about? slaying dragons etc...bleah...
Please let this season be just as exciting. I found Survivor Marquesas SOOOO boring....snore! And I can't remember half the seasons that went by. The first three seasons of Survivor made the biggest impression on me..oh and the All-star one of course. Ok, enough about Survivor.

The Amazing Race - LOVE THIS SHOW!
I have followed this one season for season :) Can you believe CBS wanted to cancel it after its 2nd season? Then it got nominated for an Emmy and they had to pause for a minute. Then the show WON that Emmy, and they renewed it for a 3rd season. After moving to a better timeslot, it actually brought in YOUNGER viewers for the then-old-ish network and its now a mainstay of the CBS schedule yay!
Premieres Monday 28th Oct, encores on Friday nights (10.30pm, I'm guessing before Survivor, then Survivor will shift to a later spot - reality fridays back to back!) on Channel 5 (no idea what AXN's timings are, but am sure it will appear there too.

Project Runway 6
I didnt believe in this product when I first saw it, I thought it was too niche. But after awhile, dammit I got hooked by all that diva designer behaviour! I love the challenges too, plus, when I was little, it was my dream to be a fashion designer. I can't sew for nuts, so I live vicariously through the show :) Parsons, Mood, NYC!!!!
(Thursdays nights on Ch5)

America's Next Top Model - Cycle 12 (ok, so we're ONE cycle behind America, but I'm hoping I'll still be entertained).
As much as I want to watch the current season of Kate Moss wannabes (calling all short under 6ft models is Cycle 13's big draw), I've enjoyed every season of ANTM and I think Cycle 12 should be no different. I enjoy watching the challenges and the girls bitching. I 'skip' or fastforward Tyra's weird (and gettin' weirder!) antics and the judges' deliberation though. Lazy la, all nonsense anyway, I don't get how Tyra isn't bored saying the same lines over and over again about how you win a contract bla di bla, and 'I only have ONE photo in my hand, and the girl who's name I DO NOT call, will have to return to the bla bla bla bla....'. EVERY WEEK, EVERY SEASON for THIRTEEN SEASONS! No short cut ah? btw, the Idols can do a very good 'Tyra' impersonation :)

The Primetime Emmy Awards!
MONDAY!! screeeeech! LOVE Emmys! Plus this year, guess who's hosting? He's Le.gen.dary...yupe its Neil Patrick Harris! Woot! He's hilarious - who knew Doogie'd grow up to be so funny?

Also I saw the exec producer's interview, apparently this year, they're presenting the show in a different format - by genre instead of by nomation categories, which is great.
But I can't help but feel like they're either trying to one-up or catch up with this year's Oscars. The Academy Awards which aired in March this year was totally different and it blew me away! Their presentation style - all presented like a big musical, starring Hugh Jackman, and each category was explained etc, very simple to digest for a viewer - didn't feel long and boring like previous years.

Moving on to tv series - sooo many....
Gossip Girl (if you've been following my tweets you'll know I'm a big GG fan and super damn excited about this!)
Its been so long since I've been this excited about a tv series since the days of Dawson's Creek, Gilmore Girls, Charmed and Buffy (are you seeing the trend? I belong to the WB (now CW) crowd. I heart The Frog (he was the mascot for the now defunct WB network in the US).

Season 3 promises to be ahem eye opening - Chuck's dating Blair, we all saw that at the end of last season. But apparently this doesn't last long - he's meant to share a guy-guy kiss with someone - acks! - so will Chuck go gay? Poor Blair.
mio TV season pass - JUST started on Thursday! eek! I've purchased it and its sitting there patiently waiting for me to finish my Princess Party duties ...GG is SO my reward tomorrow night!

Vampire Diaries!! NEW HOT SHOW. UBER HOT CAST.
See my review here.

Beautiful Life.
Mischa Barton (who's been crashing and burning with mental breakdowns and a bad nickname by Perez ('Mushy' eversince that photo of her cellulite laden thighs made it to the tabloid hall of fame) *evil Perez*) is headlining this show that is... well, crashing and burning if reviews are to be believed. But hey, critics were wrong about The O.C. (so wrong!) and One Tree Hill at first too....so I'm gonna watch it and decide for myself if its really a train wreck.
---somebody please air this - mio? ch5? starworld? somebody? anybody? doesn't bode well for a show when the international market didn't pick it up...hrm...

Eastwick
Its about 3 witches who just got their powers and are learning to use them. Sound like Charmed? A little. But the witches are older - Rebecca Romjin and post-Lipstick Jungle-Lindsay Price. I'm interested but not in a hurry.
mio TV

Glee
Reviews for this are like crazy good all over the place. I just 'ordered' it on mio TV. Now I gotta find time to actually watch it.

Flash Forward
Watch these promos that Channel 5 did. Solid awesome promos. I'm SO EXCITED about the show now (and I had no clue what it was or taht it was even coming!)

Seen the promos? Nuff said.

what else....
Ooh, Ghost Whisperer season 4 is coming uFont sizep on mio TV.

And Heroes Season 4.

And Desperate Housewives Season ? (6 now? lemme go count my DH notebooks - I have one for every season :) thank you Ch5!).

And all them crime shows - Criminal Minds (seriously the BEST crime show ever!), The Mentalist (omg love Simon Baker's toussled blonde hair!), CSI, CSI:Miami, Without A Trace, Cold Case.

Seriously, I need a non-sleep patch. There just isn't time for sleep with all this good tv going on, and of course there's Idol. Not to mention my day job as Mommy. Oops, gotta run, my oven timer has buzzed, my princess cupcakes are ready! Ding!

xoxo, s.

Idle on Idol, catch up on TV

Its been all busy as a bee behind the scenes on the Idol front; what with the whole MJ leaving, Nurul coming in, major Top 13 press conference on Monday, 8Days cover shoot on Tuesday, Vocal training, choreo sessions, profile shoots, key checks, etc etc etc happening every day.....plus an upcoming roadshow on Saturday.

Its tough just keeping up with them. *Phew* typing that was tiring....

But today (technically yesterday since its already 1am on Thursday), with no LIVE show to attend, I suddenly felt like I was on a mini holiday.

So what does a TV addict do on a mini holiday? Watch more TV la doh!

I've just watched the new CW series Vampire Diaries, the first episode of America's Next Top Model (Cycle 12 I think, which was aired in the US earlier this year, they're on to Cycle 13 right now, which is dubbed the 'Kate Moss' season cos they are looking for a 'short' model LOL!), Melrose Place and very soon Gossip Girl Season 3.

Check out reviews for us tv shows at my other blog - will be following the new season/slate of tv shows over there .... www.summerrstv.wordpress.com .... and leave your comments.
So far, have seen Vampire Diaries and I'm likin' it! Very refreshing!

What shows are you looking forward to this season? I personally cannot wait to catch - Beautiful Life (the Mushy oops Mischa Barton New York model vehicle), the latest seasons of Survivor, Amazing Race and Project Runway, plus Eastwick (3 witches, like Charmed but less cotton candy, and the witches are older - hey we're talkin' Rebecca Romjin and Lindsay Price who are HAWT k!) and new seasons of Desperate Housewives and Ghost Whisperer (wat! I LIKE ok...its the touching stories that get me! And c'mon, what other series has a husband that comes back from the dead and inhabits another man's body, thus giving the couple a 2nd chance at romance?? <-- sweet rite?)

xoxo, s.

ps. in case you're wondering whether I've become a pirate ....hellooo...i'm very law abiding waaan...am watching them on either Channel 5, mio TV or Starworld la....(yes, I have both Starhub and SingTel services - how not to? TV ADDICT remember?)

The Night I Discovered Ted :)

My night went kinda like this...

9.30pm Lights out for the kids, planted myself at the doorframe, whipped out netbook, FB on!
9.37pm "Kids, good night, no more yakking, close your eyes and Orh Orh*!" (sleep in coloquial chinese)

9.43pm "Kids, time to Orh Orh...SHHH!"
9.56pm The Daughter :"I need to wee wee"
Me : "Wee wee in your pampers k?"
D :"Oh yea, I forgot"
9.57pm D : "Ok finish, Mummy."
Me : "Ok, good night sayang."

10.03pm The Son: "I want blanket"
I crawl over and cover him with his blanket and give him a kiss.
Me : "Goodnight baby, muaks"

10.07pm The Son: "Where's Cheh Cheh?"
Me : "Sleeping already, please lie down and go to sleep, close eyes, Orh Orh!"
He flops down on his pillow and shuts his eyes.

10.31pm I cheer silently as I have not heard/seen any movement for the past 20 minutes! Yes! I can go watch Red Thread Finale now! Woo hoo!

10.32pm The Son : "I want blanket!" (his blanket has somehow fallen off the mattress)
Me : "Ok here you go (as I cover him with his blanket), now go Orh Orh!"
S : "Good night Mummy."
Me : "Good night baby."

10.35pm S : "I love you Mummy."
Me : "I love you too baby, Orh Orh now ok?"

11.10pm Finally free! Both babies are asleep - announce on Facebook. ME TIME!

11.11pm Get distracted reading about RSS feeds and then spend an hour reading up about it and installing it on this blog. Yea la, I'm a slow reader, then sumore cannot make it when it comes to tech stuff, so have to read EVEN slower. Then watch tutorials and read comments on which is a good simple reader to use bla di bla....This is serious TIME SUCKAGE!

FINALLY at 12.13am - I run to the master bedroom to check mio TV to see if the latest episode of Bachelorette is ready for viewing.... sigh...NOPE, NOT YET (but its Wednesday already leh!!!!)

Fine, I'll go watch my Red Thread Finale...ONE whole hour I thought gleefully to myself!

Basket, the ending was terrible lor! I watched 39 episodes faithfully for weeks on end and this is how they wrap it up??? Better have a good excuse for me when Season 2 comes back (and I'm assuming it will be coming back to tie up loose ends left by that lamest of lame 'cliffhanger'-wannabe endings).

Don't get me wrong it started off fine, slowly putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Alex Sung explained himself to the Kongs. We're left to figure out who the real baddie is, and just when you think AAAH He's the one, they twist it a bit more....and then.....its like producers decided eh, only got 3 minutes left of airtime...how leh? ....faster end it...how about...lets have them tiu lau sei! (jump off a building and die)

So, ok sore point, I don't want to talk about Red Thread anymore.

1.04am I go back to mio TV>Video On Demand> US Season Pass> A-C>Bachelorette Season 5
Then hold my breath and say a lil prayer ..."please let it be on liao"
Basket, list shows 8 episodes only! Ep 9, come ON already!

Dejected, I scan through the free stuff....Ahh...Better Off Ted...I've heard such good things about this show.

PREVIEW. PLAY.

What can I say....AWESOME!

Its been a while since I've had such a good laugh. (Oh 30Rock, how I love thee...but let me not digress).

Ted is played by Jay Harrington. The guy who played two very hot doctors on two very hot shows - can't remember? He was the too-good-to-be-true Dr Ron on Desperate Housewives that Susan couldn't dump Mike for (see pic), and he was the doc-from-a-rival-practice that Addison couldn't turn down in Private Practice!

Now he's Ted, Head of R&D at Veridian Dynamics. The company that makes anything and everything to make YOUR LIFE, BETTER.

Their slogan....Veridian Dynamics. Life.Better. :)

ABC.com describes Veridian Dynamics (VD <--LOL) as an 'ethically challenged scientific company' and therein lies endless humourous storylines. (Impregnating Men, Turning fabric into meat, and I'm sure the list goes on as the season does)

I've fallen in love with Ted, he's kinda down-to-earth, a single dad coping with moral issues every day at work. A very different role compared to the hunk-a-beef he used to play.

I just love this show for its wicked cool humour and the liberties it takes with just about anything. Less typing, more showing -
see videos below.

I've only watched the first episode. And already I'm sold.

Portia de Rossi is in her element in this show. That woman has played all sorts of weird characters from a nympho in Sirens (back when she had curves) to a neurotic unemotional lawyer in Ally McBeal (when she lost her curves) to a duplicitious, scheming, freeloader in Arrested Development (when she finally came out gay and found someone who didn't mind that she didn't have boobs cos she had her own).

As Veronica, Ted's boss, Portia is just hilarious - she's a no-ethics, stiff-as-a-board, no-EQ, soul-less female Nazi! Haha, I just realised she's even Nazi blonde! And realising that, I remember what Nell's appeal was on Ally McBeal, it was her long hair. She'd let go her bun and men would swoon at the slow-mo cascading golden locks! Remember not? Then she ended up dating the short guy who had a remote control flusher? LOL, I miss the days of Ally McBeal.

Portia has some of the best lines...."We want to weaponise pumpkins." <--- what kind of company does that? Veridian Dynamics can, and will.

There's another loveable character - Linda played by Andrea Anders (another blonde but where Portia is vavavoom, she's cute). Linda is Ted's jumpy, slightly rebellious, quirky, non-conformist (read sceptical) employee who does product testing. She's also the heart and common sense of the show, and looks to be Ted's potential love interest. Most people will remember her as the quirky neighbour/love interest on F.R.I.E.N.D.S. canceled spin-off Joey.

We also discover Linda likes to steal little tetrapacked cups of coffee creamers. By the handbag load.

I like that kind of dysfunction in a person. Plus, she's always getting caught handling personal matters while at the office, by her bosses. Looks like she's quite suay wan.

I liked the show because the concept is different. I'm so thrilled to be watching another comedy (I mean seriously, there's nothing else of calibre out there apart from 30 Rock) that is smart and sassy and different. Ok, I also like How I Met Your Mother, but the season's over....September do hurry up!

2.43am. Wednesday. Just checked. Still no bachelorette ep 9. *yawn* Time for bed.

Xoxo, s.

ps. I've just finished this blog entry and its now 4.01am! arrgh need to sleeeepp NOW! Publish!
