Update #3 :
Singapore Idol Airi met up with music execs from Universal over the weekend when he booked out from camp and alls goin' well. From what I hear, they're still on track for an April/May album launch - so yippeeee! As we already know, Airi submitted like 10 songs to Universal to consider for the album, word is, they likey some. So the album will be a mix of his own stuff and some new stuff they'll be recording with him! I'm excited, are you?
And now, for some Idol video updates!
Video #1
Check out our boys Faizal and Duane.
This is Jay Sean's 'Down'. Love the harmonies.
Video #2
This is their second vid together ;) and a little more 'produced' haha. Good job boys. I like the whole vid. Very cute! I'm surprised you guys didn't do the 'elevator' trick...
Enjoy (cos I did :))
Don't you just love 'em? So cute la. Duane boy, love your voice in this one :)
Video #3
This one's been on Youtube for a while now. Justin recorded this at one of the sessions at Ann Hussein's place. I had no idea it was recording sound, and I think neither did Izked. You can hear him talking and me laughing on and off, we were right next to these crazy people. Aaah I miss those days!
Photo updates
(courtesy of @izked's tweetphotos and FannaOsman's FBpics) Just on Sunday, our very own blonde prawn-lover Farhan Shah threw a fan bash for his fabulous fans. I dropped by unglamourously early, was told it was 4pm, so I strolled in at 4.30pm thinking I'd be fashionably late, only to be told, 'eh supposed to be 6pm la' *Fail*. Oh and get this, I was also told it was a belated bday party, wahlao, I musta been the only one toting a pressie and a card. No matter, Farhair, you likey rrriiiight??
Thanks to the lovely @FANNAosman for sharing her pics with me (and everyone reading this too! btw I had no idea what your pretty friend's name is thus the nick Pretty Young Thing (PYT). :))
Next week Idol Day is on TUESDAY! Go change all your recording settings so you don't miss recording the LAST Spectacular of the season. That's right folks, next Tuesday's show will be the last one held at Caldecott Hill's TV Theatre. The set at will be torn down and never rebuilt again. The next show after that will be the GRAND FINALS on 27th December at the Singapore.Indoor.Stadium!!!!!!! Woot!!!!!!
Key Words to help you digest that info...
Last Spectacular
Judges' Choice
Top 3 to Final 2
TUESDAY. 8pm
8th December
Digested? Good.
And now for some vids that Ash recorded with his super hi-tech SLR (so envious).
Here's a clearer vid (higher quality) of Charles' exit performance. I watched it again and I still can't believe all those sounds came from one person with a mic. Uh-may-zingg!
This is a recording of one of the producers' interviews with the then newly-minted Top 3. They're all agreeing that next week's show will be intense. Airi also realises he'll have the male dressing room all to himself :(.... but its all goode.
This last one was shot just before the show started. As you can see, right behind that black curtain to the right side of the stage, its all a crazy mess of people walking about, Idols rehearsing their songs, producers, assistant producers, stage hands, just like EVERYONE la is there. Its always a crazy mess here. Notice Airi sitting in a corner, all quiet? He usually is like that before every show - cos he's getting into his 'zone', but last night, he was extra quiet cos he was feeling awful - like many contestants seasons before, he was sick, and had thrown up (not once but twice) - but was prepared to soldier on and deliver the best performances he could.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed the vids, thanks much to Ash for taking the time to film and upload them - musta taken forever (cos he started last night and it only went live maybe at noon today!)
xoxo, s.
ps. Remember! TUESDAY 8pm! (whahah, said it so many times it must be ringing in your ears)
pps. Don't ask why they moved it to Tuesday, just remember to tune in!
ppps. Well, if you MUST know, SEA Games starts on Wednesday the 9th, so clash in schedule, thus Idol moves a day earlier. (which also means a shorter week for producers to get the show and all its innards together!)
p4s. No roadshow this weekend ya....this one I dunno why. But I'm glad the Top 3 will have a short weekend break.
"Its okay, to have made it to Top 4, its been amazing."
Humble to a fault and the sweetest, most thoughtful person I've ever met, Charles is really such a gentleman. He went round thanking everybody, including Judge Ken Lim, after the show. Uncle Ken gave a him pat on the back and reassured him that he's a talented guy. This, for me, was the best reassurance Charles could have gotten after weeks of onstage scrutiny by the judges. Perhaps his talent is just not suitable for singing competitions, but really there is no doubt that Charles is musically talented. Perhaps his performances are more suited for 'intimate' environments? But seriously, to have gotten this far, Top 4 out of 4000, is a huge achievement.
Last week's non-elimination gave me a false sense of insulation. Week after week, an idol hopeful has been sent home and its been sad to see them go, but last week it was like Happy Camp, no one was sent home and it was so sool to see all four for another week.
When the Results show started last night, I suddenly wanted it to stay Top 4 forever.Malaque, seated one seat away, felt the same. I mean, Top 4 all the way to Finals lah, then just 'crown' one lor - caaaan la...
Oh well, thats not how the Idol cookie crumbles. And we're now left with 3.
In typical Charlie fashion, here's his exit performance, beatboxing! :), followed by the exit interview.
Thank you Charles for sharing your Idol journey with us, and with me. You are a truly talented and wonderful person - Sherry's a lucky girl and your parents raised you right. Stick to your guns and your dreams and don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
xoxo, s.
ps. Charlie's a man of many talents... ages ago, in one of my earlier interviews Charles said he used to love to draw. Check out this cute lil sketch Charlie did of Sezairi - its SO Sezairi :) Pretty good right! It was on the envelope of a note that he wrote to his 'bro' Sezairi.
summerr loves her tv. in fact, she's downright passionate about it. This blog grew to be the Unofficial blog of Singapore Idol 2009. This year, its going OMG! Hope you'll enjoy the inside scoop on this year's big reality must watch!
