OMG Grand Finals : News Break Entertainment

Quickie Post : Vids from News Break
While viewers at home had to contend with watching the News for half hour before the Results Show began, producers lined up a fair bit of entertainment in studio for the audience. They invited some our favourite ex Contenders back on stage to keep us entertained. Check out the vids below...

This is a vid of our favourite bartender boys Shah Dillon and Kenny Hong who are Bottle Flipz, from OMG's Episode 1.

This is Charles or C-Murda from OMG's Episode 2.

This is Desert Roses. First is a routine featuring Jessy and Sophia, Susan is in Egypt and could not be here. After which Sophia does a very captivating solo routine....

Last but not least, its our favourite shiny, happy people - the Singapore Char Siew Baos! Give it up for Jason, Jacob, Ruby and Dom :)

Plus one bonus vid here of Sean Harrison rehearsing backstage before the show - this is in the cramped confines of the B3 lift lobby, while Viki and Spyro were asleep literally 3 feet away from where I was standing. I love the way Sean sings this song, it felt like he was singing it to me.....this is probably what he does to make girls swoon right Sean? Just kidding - hope you got to Tekong in time dude! (Sean had to rush off the minute the show ended to make it to the last ferry to Tekong at 11pm.)

Hope you enjoyed the vids, workin' on the review, which may take a while...too many pics to choose from!

OMG! Wednesday Night Rehearsals - Vids

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse!
Last Wednesday night, there was no show, but the OMGers were hard at work rehearsing for the upcoming Grand Finals. On the rehearsal menu that night was group items. At Training School, the singers sat with Indra while the dancers were with Zaki.
Jamming along the corridor....
I was told to meet them at Film Studio which is that huge-ass warehouse way at the back - I recorded the 'walk' there as promised - here's the vid. @siproducer Jolene walked with me and we took the 'shorter' route. Its creepier in person. By the way, when we got there the door was locked. That was a bit of a fright, but anyway turns out everyone got relocated to Training School.

That was such a nonsense vid right?

Anyway, back to business, here are the vids of the rehearsals.
This vid was recorded outside training school while the singers waited for their music director Indra Ismail to arrive. They'd just been assigned the Travie McCoy song "Billionnaire" and were singing it together as a group, for the first time.

In this next vid, you'll see the singers have moved to the Ping Pong Room, where the echo is just fab for recording singing. Indra is assigning parts to the various singers.

While the singers are sorting themselves out, across the hall in the Dance Studio, the OMG dancers have gathered to rehearse their segment of the opening number for Zaki to see. In this vid, you'll just see Luminiq Crew, CJ Crew's Joanna and Jun, and IFLY kinda warming up...

IFLY's two Vincents (Yeo and Fok), Yvonne and Nellie sit and wait to get started...
While they warm up, I head back to the singers to see how they're doing and looks like they've made progress. Parts are assigned and everything's slowly comin' together...
Indra giving the singers a few tips...

Back at the Dance Studio, here's the rehearsal for the opening number - looks pretty exciting - I love seeing everyone come together to do group numbers, plus its great to see Rhythm 'N' Moves again.Vertical Dancers are not here for the rehearsals, but they'll also be part of this routine and so will Danny Koh.
Thank goodness the ceiling is high enough for IFLY....

After Zaki is done with the dancers and they've been dismissed, its time for the OMG singers to learn their blocking for the opening number. Very unglam, but here's a peek at how its done...

Zaki once told me he loves to do blocking cos its like moving life sized chess pieces here and there, sometimes like a jigsaw puzzle ahahha. Okay, and now to put the whole thing to music. The singers just got the song assignment just before this, so they're still reading lyrics off the sheet.

Well, that was a very long Wednesday night. Call time was 7pm. We all left Mediacorp around 12.30am.

Next up, weekend rehearsals!

xoxo, s.

ps. Here's the last time we'll see Sean Harrison with a full head of hair - he enlisted for NS the very next day.

OMG Grand Finalist : Sean Harrison

New Boy No More ....
21-year old Sean Leonard Harrison was dubbed 'new boy' for a while when he first joined OMG! on Episode 10 Lights, Camera, Action! His emotional rendition of Five For Fighting's "Superman" made Beatrice gasp "What took you so long to get here?". Sean's original and often intense/emo take on songs makes for very interesting performances that are sincere and often moving.

Sean's OMG Journey....
He's been on the show for four episodes now, and definitely fitting in with the rest of the OMG! gang nicely. Sean's a sweet guy who's sometimes like on his own planet. If you're on Planet Sean, you will TOTALLY get what Sean is all about. But if you're on another planet, you may have to furrow your brow a bit and wonder - what is UP with that boy dude? But then again, every artiste should have a bit of a mystery about them right?

Right now, Sean is booked in at camp and the last time I saw him was last Sunday for rehearsals. He won't be allowed out til Tuesday for last minute rehearsals and Wednesday night's show. Here's what I asked him in between blocking with Zaki and reviews with Jennifer....

You're in the finals dude, last lap now, everyone's probably gonna ask you, who do you think is your biggest competition, so I'll ask you the reverse, who do you feel you're not really in competition with?
Hrm, that's a tough question. Ummmmm (this 'um' goes on for quite a while, peppered with 'hrms' and 'uhhs' and, 'I don't know ah, lemmethink')....
I think maybe IFLY? I think they're great and all, but I don't really feel so much pressure from them. Like, when I look at the others I like feel a lot of pressure, like nerves you know. But with IFLY its like, no pressure, like I'm not really scared of them.... does that kinda answer your question?

What's been the best part of OMG! for you?
Definitely the friendships that I've formed, like with the other contestants. They're all really cool. Oh, and also the kids! You know, the kids from School's Out and the kids we met on OMG! Cares. They're just awesome. They're just kids being kids and it was just so great to be around them and work with them. I don't really find myself in circumstances where I  get to work with kids, so this was great. They're just kids doing what they do and you have to react to them. The girls who performed with me are so sweet, they come every week to support me and the shows - that's cool.

What's something personal that you'll take away from this OMG! journey?
The craziness! The intensity of it all! The INSANE amount of deadlines that we have! I'm a pretty laidback person. I'm not used to waking up to 7 messages on my phone. I'll see them and like think, 'Leave me aloooone....' I'm used to having time to myself. And now its like, whoa, messages on my phone all the time.
This is also the first time in a long time that I'm actually nervous onstage. I don't know why though. I guess its just the show. Its put me in a lot of nerve-wracking situations. So yea I guess I'm out of my comfort zone and I'm just learning to have to deal with it.

Quick stats for Sean on OMG!
1. Sean joined OMG! as a Challenger during the Elimination Rounds on Episode 10 - Lights, Camera, Action!

2. Sean has performed :
Episode 10 : "Superman" by Five For Fighting
Episode 11 : "Crazy Lil Thing Called Love" by Queen
Episode 12 : "Music Of The Night" from Phantom of the Opera

3. Sean's rankings :
    Episode 10 : Judges Ranking - 1, Public vote - Bottom 3
    Episode 11 : Judges Ranking - 1, Public vote - Bottom 3
    Episode 12 : Judges Ranking - 2, Not in bottom 3

Looks like Sean's a favourite with the Judges, but the votes weren't too strong for him in his first two outings, but looks like that may be improving.

Catch Sean Harrison this Wednesday on the One Moment of Glory Grand Finals where they will battle it out against the other four to win the $50,000 grand prize.

Voting lines will open at the start of the show at 8pm. The Results will come to you LIVE the same night at 10pm.

To vote for Sean Harrison :
Call 1900 112 1204 or sms '4' to 71199.

Good luck Sean, all the best for Wednesday!

The Last OMG! Roadshow

One more for the road....

Yesterday marked the last day the OMG Contenders would have to burn a weekend performing at roadshows because today, was the last OMG! roadshow for the season. Next week, the Grand Finalists - Sean Harrison, Jill-Marie Thomas, CJ Crew, Luminiq Crew and IFLY prodigy will have to buckle down and rehearse like siao for the Grand Finals on 17 November.

So, on this final roadshow, our Grand Finalists gave it their all for the crowd. It was lovely to see them performing against the familiar blue OMG backdrop. It was a pity Jill-Marie couldn't be a part of this. In her place today however, we had performances by recently eliminated Contender Singapore Char Siew Baos!

Here are the pics & vids from the roadshow :)
Check out our leggy host for the day, Class 95's Jean Danker. Jean does a good job of putting everyone on the spot during their pre-performance interview by asking them who they think is their biggest competitor in the Grand Finals. No one wants to do any naming but she finally got Luminiq and Sean to admit they thought Jill-Marie was their biggest competition.

First up - Sean Harrison with two songs - "Time After Time" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", see the vids below.

Next up, CJ Crew featuring Jojo, YuZhen, Evy, Diyanna, Joanna, Sam and Jun. See their vids below.

Lucky number three is Luminiq Crew ...

Here's the vid of the boys doing their thing, poor Afiq (Fiqsion) dislocated his shoulder while doing a stunt :(

With Jill-Marie tied up in Boracay, the last Grand Finalist to perform is IFLY prodigy ...

After the IFLY guys and girls wowed with their flips and tricks, it was time to get the audience to participate :)

The Singapore Char Siew Baos! also join in on the last OMG! roadshow with two songs "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and a their own mashed up version of Rihanna's "Please Don't Stop The Music".

To end off the day, the Baos! get everyone up on stage for an impromptu sing-along to the unofficial OMG Theme song :) It really feels like one big family at this point .... check out Luminiq's Danial on beatbox!

Post roadshow pics ....

Thank you OMG Contenders for entertaining us tirelessly week after week in studio and at the many roadshows! Its been a fun season!

Roadshow Vids/Pics + FINAL OMG! Roadshow TODAY!

Last OMG! Roadshow Today!
Happy Sunday morning all! It's the final OMG! roadshow for the season today, after this, the grand finalists are gonna be left alone  to rehearse and prep for the big finale on 17th November. So come on down one last time to show the finalists big love and support!

TODAY, 5pm, Plaza Singapura's Open Plaza at Level 1 (right outside the main entrance)

In the meantime, check out some vids I got from yesterday's roadshow at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. It was actually a roadshow for Children's Charities and our grand finalists made a guest appearance to entertain the crowd :)

Here are the vids and pics from the roadshow ....
*Sorry to CJ Crew and CJ Crew's fans, I got there a little late due to traffic and totally missed out their performance :( When I arrived it was already Sean's turn to go on! *

Vids first ....
This first vid is of Sean Harrison singing 'Blowin' In The Wind' ...

This next vid is of Luminiq Crew struttin' their stuff to Usher's 'OMG'. Some parts of the routine are what they performed on last Wednesday's show. This was originally a routine for them with CJ Crew and IFLY. They rejigged it Luminiq style :)

This last vid is of IFLY prodigy, or rather, a smaller version of IFLY :)  Today's group is made up of only four members - Alan, Vincent Yeo, Jessie and Yvonne. The rest weren't able to make it to the roadshow due to prior engagements. But these four sure knew how to 'fly', and they helped a few audience members 'fly' too. According to Sam (from CJ Crew, who has 'flown' with them), its pretty scary up there with just a pair of hands holding you up by the feet!

....and here come the pics :) Just keep scrollin' cos there're so many - sorry didn't have time to collage/caption them all - pics are taken from both my own cam and Channel 5's Fiona Heng's cam. Thank you Fiona for sharing as always!

Next up, Luminiq Crew!!
