Typical Tabby - diva to the last drop :) Bring on the Chaka Khan hair girlfriend! Just make sure it doesn't come out like this :)

Malaque - Last Dance by Donna Summer

Ooooh nice one...this one always gets me up and dancing!

Classic Mambo hit... :) This one gets everyone pointing to the sky!

Awesome choice...lay down n boogie n play dat funky music til ya' die! (I first heard that line in a NKOTB song)

OMG, love this song - it always reminds me of that scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts is in the tub, up to her neck in bubbles, listening to her walkman and singing to this song...badly! LOL!

The great MJ Trailer shoot

Beat it! Beat it! No one wants to be defeated!

That is definitely the game plan for each of the Top 10 right now. But just 2 days short of a month ago, they were still in 'play' mode.

On Sept 12th, I was surrounded by 13 Michael Jackson impersonators. The Top 13 were dressed up in MJ garb for their trailer shoot to promote MJ Week.

Here are the behind-the-scenes pics from that part of the day (they shot 3 other trailers that day in various different outfits and themes, but I can't give those away yet :))

The first few collages are of the Idols sitting around the hallway chillin' and waitin' to go into the studio for the shoot. They also decided to practice some MJ-esque poses (cos the Director said, each one had to strike a pose for their individual close-ups) and their overall 'dance routine' for the shoot. The song du jour .... MJ's 'Beat It'. :)

Sigh...sorry peeps, I had tons of vids from that day, but its all gone now thanks to my phone's memory card that got corrupted last Wednesday - I think it was protesting being overworked what with the continuous twitpiccing and videos being recorded :P ....will just have to raid Iz's trove of vids now :( boo hoo!.

Here are shots of them in studio (finally, after lots of wait and rehearsal time out in the hallway) getting directions from the Director. Love the lighting in the studio - it makes everyone look good!

At any one time, only 10 Idols are in the shot. 1 in the spotlight (with close ups) and the other 9 in the back providing atmosphere. This is because at this point in the competition (ie now), its Top 10 only. But because we didn't know who would make it to the Top 10, every one of the Top 13 would be filmed.

Tedious, but so much fun! I can't wait to see the trailer!

MJ WEEK AWESOME!

Its Michael Jackson week next week! WOOT!!

So exciting! I'm super excited because 1. I'm a big Michael Jackson fan and 2. So are the Idols!

His songs are beautiful and I suppose with all the hype surrounding his passing, this is just timely.

Ok, this is quickie scheduled post cos its 5.30pm and I've got loads to do before I rush off to the studio in an hour!

These pics were taken last month at the big-ass trailer shoot (2 full days and 7 different concept trailers were shot) that the Idols did for the Channel 5 marketing team.

Everyone got dressed up as MJ for the concept trailer which will have probably gone on air by now. (someone upload to youtube it please!)

In the spirit (no pun intended) of MJ week, I've asked the Idols some questions and their interviews will be posted on their profiles this Saturday :)

I Am SO LOVING this Idol trailer!

Big Kudos to Valren and Chris of OAP5 (trailer producer who shot this and put together) and the graphics guys who did all the awesome graphics!

See what I mean when I say we're in the NEXT stage of the show? EVERYTHING, even the trailers get glitzier and more glamourous! LOVIN' IT!

Everyone looks good! And yes Justin, that includes your Jason Mraz - not bad la :)

Argh, can you all cut a longer version, just so can 'indulge' in it a little bit more please please Valren? :)

The Big Top13 Idol Trailer/Photoshoot

I've just come home from a long long day at Caldecott Hill!

(ok la, its been about an hour, cos I had to shower mah, and then put the kids to sleep - The Husband was so lovely, he took the kids on his own the entire day, so I could spend it with another bunch 'o' kids - The Top 13 - so of course the minute I was home, HAD to take over and give him a break right?).

It was a fruitful day. I think everyone would agree. 4 different trailer shoot concepts PLUS photoshoots all done from 7am - 9pm (plus) is a miracle k! Its not easy to coordinate something like this with 13 talents. So *clap clap clap* to the Trailer Producers in charge of today's shoot. Well done you guys - you were super efficient!

Well done also to the Publicity guys who minimised idle (no pun) time by squeezing in photoshoots with the Top13 while they waited their turn for the trailer (video) shoot! *Clap also*

In total, including yesterday, there were quite a few 'concept' trailers being shot, one of which is the trailer promoting the first Spectacular concept which I posted about yesterday.

Apologies about the minimal tweets/twitpics. I've been sworn to secrecy so I can't reveal the actual concepts, but let me just say your Top13 looked fabulous and attacked each concept with gusto (and a lotta laughs!). We've discovered today that most of them are pretty decent actors (Sylvia totally morphed into each character!) and dancers (who knew Airi had such great HIP movements!) LOL!

Since I can't report on concepts, here are the highlights of the day followed by pics that I tweeted from the studio.

Highlight 1 : The buffet spread.

Byron the PR Guru was such a sweetheart. He stocked the side table outside Studio 4 with snacks - both healthy and not so healthy - from Chicken In A Biscuit to fresh plums and pears. Also on the table were big bags of 3in1 coffee, Milo, Kopi-O and Ribena! And Pringles! And Oreos! And KitKat! And sugar rolls!

Highlight 2 : watching tv in the green room

When I arrived bright and early at 7 this morning, I found the Idols glued to AXN's Contender - rooting for some Thai guy Pontiprongkrongnong (only Tabby can do the name right!). Check out Farhan's glazed over eyes! LOL!

Highlight 3 : On the spot Choreo

I can't give you details about Choreo, but new choreo coach Eddy taught the Top 13 2 separate 'dances'. Both very very fun - can't wait to share the pics/vids when the time is right!

Highlight 4 : Playing dress up

I think the most fun part of the day for the Top 13 was playing dress up. They really enjoyed getting into costume and makeup and once on-set, into character.

I had such fun today. I loved how the Idols would always break into song and dance no matter where they were. They kept practicing their choreo, and I found Farhan and Duane singing their hearts out in the boys toilet (cos apparently there was nowhere to sit - quite true, cos the green room is super small, cramped with clothes and hair/makeup people!)

I also loved how they each supported each other when it came time to do a solo routine. When Duane took centrestage on one of the concepts, everyone chanted and gave him so much encouragement - that was just so sweet! Its times like these I miss the other 11. They were such a great bunch together - always rah-rah-ing each other on!

By dinner time, Idol energy was starting to diminish, so I'm glad that they were down to their last 'group shot' for the trailer. All still photography was done already. We had a nice bitch fest (lol, wouldn't you like to know about whom *wink*) and a good yakkity yak over dinner.

Thank you Top 13 for a wonderful day. I really enjoyed myself and hope you did too. See you Monday (hopefully!) for your first Top 13 Media Session!
