OMG! For A Frighteningly Good Time!

With Halloween just around the corner, Singaporeans are lapping up all things freaky and frighty (ok, that's not a real word, but it works right?). 

Even Daiso has gotten into the act - they're selling all sorts from bags to hats and capes and its just $2 - no excuse not to join at that price man!

OMG!'s not to be outdone, we're celebrating Halloween with the theme 'Fright Night' tonight. Its gonna be spooky fun and lots of theatrics (hopefully!), I'm really looking forward to tonight's show. 

I hope everyone who's coming for the show dresses up - that's the best part about Halloween right? Dressing up! Hehe, I hope the Judges dress up - but then again, how to take critique seriously if you're talking to a Witch or a Pirate or something more exotic right?

Ok, all that aside....

Alan and Vincent Fok dropped by the Class 95 studios this morning for a quick radio interview and here are the pics! 

Think the boys are cute? Show 'em your support, watch the show, and vote tonight. I can't wait to see their routine in full costume and lighting - their theme is Twilight wheee!

In total, there'll be six acts performing tonight - Jill-Marie Thomas, Sean Harrison, Singapore Char Siew Baos!, Luminiq Crew, CJ Crew and Challenger IFLY prodigy. Who will judges favour, who will be at the bottom of the judges' ranking? Who will give us the biggest and best 'SCARE'? 

PLUS! Tonight, the guest judges are none other than 987fm's MUTTONS!!! I LURVE THEM! I can't wait to hear what they've got to say to the contestants - Mutton, sorry la Mutton, cannot make it la Mutton etc etc...

The Baos! Ruby and Jacob Holiday With A Ghost

In preparation for OMG's Halloween-themed episode called 'Fright Night', I got the Contenders to tell me their scariest ghost stories, here is Ruby's & Jacob's story, as told by Ruby, .... thanks guys for sharing!

This happened to us when we went on a holiday with another friend, a real friend, called Victor. We were headed to Lovina Beach, up north in Bali, where we rented a villa. 


This villa was located in the middle of paddy fields and was basically a hut made of bamboo shafts. It had a small attic where one of the beds was located. The other bed was downstairs in the main area.


We arrived at about 6 or 7 pm (btw folks, that's dusk/twilight, worst possible time to be 'out and about' to the Muslims - its like witching hour then). Victor went up to the 2nd floor to check it out. Jacob went around snapping pics and looked up to snap a pic of Victor looking down from his 'attic' room.


Jacob jumps in here :
When I was taking the pics, I saw on the camera's screen there were green spots in the picture. So I decided to take some more pictures to see if they would recur. And they did. I didn't want to alarm the other two, so I kept quiet about it til the last day.

Ruby showed me the pics on her iPhone and I said I had to post it, so here you guys go...eerie.
There are three pics with the green spots. In the last one, many people have different takes on it, but to me, it looks like Slimer smiling. Its round and has a mouth and eyes! Gaaahhh!

I tried using 'Paint' to 'circle' it so you could
see it clearer, but the circle is rather faint.
You can see it thought can't you? That green
'flash' of whatever it is....gah!

Again, there's a green 'spot' and this time its really clear.

This is the freakiest of the three pics. There is clearly a face there!
I see 'Slimer' there! But others may see a 'moon' type ball.
But what the?!!!....

Think that's freaky, check this out ....
Jacob continues : 
What you see in those pics is not all. On the last day, Ruby decides to take a final pic, from outside, of the villa that we stayed at, and we didn't even look at the pic until we arrived back in Singapore and what we saw gave us all a fright!

Again, Ruby was kind enough to let me post this - can you see the white wispy figure at the front porch? AIYO! FREAAAAAKY! AND IT'S FRIGGIN' DAY TIME K!

Eeeee ....See the 'white' figure sort of, floating to the left of the door?

Now can y'all understand why I couldn't post this last night?!

Luminiq Danial's Date With A Pontianak

In preparation for OMG's Halloween-themed episode called 'Fright Night', I got the Contenders to tell me their scariest ghost stories, here is Daniel's story, .... thanks Doc Orc for sharing!

This happened to me about 2 years ago, in 2008. It was 3am, and I was walking with my girlfriend. I was sending her home, we were walking towards the main road to catch a cab home. In order to get to the main road, we'd have to walk across a playground and this playground is like, notorious for 'hantu' (ghosts).


So anyway, we decided to just walk and as we were taking the path that goes around the playground, she stopped me and said, "There's someone at the playground." 


She stopped walking and pointed at the swings. 


Sitting on a lone swing, clad totally in black, was a lady, swinging slowly. Her arms were by her side, not holding the swing, and her feet, I didn't see any feet, did not touch the ground. In fact, 'she' was totally in black and I could not see any skin at all. Her hair was very long and black, until her butt.


(summerr says : eeee, even just typing this my hands are shaking again.....)


We both froze, looking at what was clearly a Pontianak. 


We decided to take a bigger loop around the playground to go around her, and suddenly my girlfriend started to change. She started to screaming and yelling at me. She told me to, "don't think about anything, stop looking behind, let's go!"


As we got to the main road, I hailed a cab and we got in, and at first we both kept very quiet. I tried talking to her, ask her if she was okay but all she did was look at me and smile.


When we got to her HDB block, I started to walk with her. I always send her home right to her doorstep. But when we got to the lift, she started screaming and yelling at me again, asking me to leave, telling me not to follow her. 


We were both in the lift and she kept the door open, yelling at me to get out. By this time I knew, she had been possessed or something, so I challenged it, I said, "No I won't leave her!" And she said, "If you don't go out, I WILL KILL HER!" and then she laughed a very evil laugh. 


We argued a bit more, but it was clear she could possibly hurt my girlfriend, so I said, "If I leave, you promise you won't hurt her?" But all she did was laugh in my face. And then she got really agitated and started screaming and yelling. 


I had no choice, I left, and went home. 


My girlfriend called me the next day. She asked, "Why did you leave me at the park alone?"
(she took a cab home alone after that)


summerr says : 
OMG, you took the pontianak home with you?!!! WTH!


Danial says : 
To my recollection, this is what happened. To my girlfriend's recollection, she said one minute we were standing there together at the playground, and the next thing she remembers is I was gone. 


summerr says :
Whalieu......creeepy with a capital 'C'. Seriously, how were you able to go back and sleep?!


Last story at midnight tonight ...and it is just the spookiest one yet....there's photographic evidence....

Luminiq Spyro's Smoking Ghost

In preparation for OMG's Halloween-themed episode called 'Fright Night', I got the Contenders to tell me their scariest ghost stories, here is Spyro's story, as told by crew members Vik and Afiq .... thanks for sharing you guys!


About two months ago, during his NS time, Spyro had to go patrolling and prowling. His prowling route covers the smoking corner. 


This story happened at the smoking corner, around 4am one night.


The smoking corner was more like a room. Its very dirty, full of cigarette butts and ashes. He was walking past the glass window when he thought he saw something inside the room. The distance between him and whatever it was that was standing in the room was literally about just a two and a half arms length away.


He flashed the torchlight at it, shining towards where the feet should be first. 


It was all white.


And as he trained the flashlight upward, it was still all wrapped in white. He slowly moved up and up and up, until he reached 'its' 'face'. 


What he saw totally freaked him out. The ghost's face was all bloody and infested with maggots, like it had just died. It was a grossly horrible sight.


Then it started to hiss at him. 


Spyro stood there frozen for a while. He could feel himself zoning out and he did his best to fight the fainting feeling. He finally managed to overcome the paralysis and snap himself out 'its' trance and quickly walked away. His partner who was with him, almost wasn't as lucky, he was much worse for the wear despite standing further away from the 'ghost'. Luckily Spyro helped to snap him out of his trance too and they left unscathed. 


summerr says : 
EEEEEEEEEE! Spyro! Hero la you! Standing just ONE METRE away from a ghost and you can still slowly shine torchlight into its face?! Wth! *bow bow bow*

Happy Halloween (in advance) from OMG!

FRIGHT NIGHT!

Anyone remember this movie? Still freaks me out to this day k. Just the poster creeps me out. Speaking of 'creeping out' ....
This week, I got the Contenders to tell me their best ghost stories/experiences and ...sigh...it creeped me out so bad, sorry, not just creeped, but freaked, me out so bad, I couldn't do these posts til day light. So apologies that all this didn't go out last night. Every bump I heard sent my goosebumps up the wazoo. I left my laptop and notebook outside while I huddled under my blanket (like the big chicken that I am) in my room.


I've posted 3 out of the 6 scary stories already, so in the meantime, here's some OMG! Contender trivia for the week, I asked each Contender what they're fave horror movie was and what they would dress up as for Halloween, check out their answers :)


Sean Harrison
For a movie, oh my gawd, it has to be this Stephen King movie called 1408 with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson! It totally messes up your mind! Its a room that's trying to get its occupant killed! Crazy!



And for Halloween I'd like to either be Mario (as in Super Mario Bros), an iPod (?!) or a pirate. Yea! A pirate, like a really suave one you know, not like Jack Sparrow. Like with a really nice eye-patch, a great hat and a great jacket with tassles etc.

Jill-Marie Thomas
I generally don't like horror movies. But the ones that have left an impression and that have tormented for life after watching them are Stephen King's 'It' and Nightmare On Elm Street! Those two movies really freaked me out. I can never look at a drain the same after 'It'!


I'd love to dress up as something from Ghostbusters! Maybe a ghostbuster, or as Marshmallow Man (omg so cute!) or Slimer. Or maybe a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, or oh wait! Captain Planet! I'd have to get a green mullet wig though ...


Check out the original theme song for the cartoon Captain Planet, and then check out what Jill-Marie did to the song ... I loved Captain Planet too by the way, and always wanted to be a Planeteer!

Btw, I think Sean Harrison is the real Planateer, he'll turn off the lights and the comp to save electricity despite having a ghost on his tail! Read his ghost story here.


Singapore Char Siew Baos!
Ruby :
I like Scream, cos I like the mask that the killer wears. And I also like Saw, ALL the Saw movies! (Turns out sweet-looking Ruby is a slasher flick chick at heart! As for Halloween, I'd like to dress up as Princess Fiona - not the chio version, but the troll version! So I get to wear the dress hahaha!



Jacob : 
I like the Saw movies. And I'd dress up as those Chinese vampires. You know, the 'Keong Si', the ones that hop instead of walk. (see pic above)


Jason :

I don't have a favourite horror movie, I'm too chicken to watch because when I do, I'll be too freaked out and then can't sleep for days! For Halloween, I'd dress up as Jason la! As in Jason Voorhees from Friday The 13th.

Dominic :
I don't like horror movies either, so I don't normally watch, mostly because too many rely on gore and jolts.  Unlike Dark Water, the 2002 Japanese original by the creators of The Ring. That's the kind that quietly and convincingly creeps you out and has you not wanting to shower in the dark for months. Back then I was serving NS and I was afraid to shower in camp, lights or no lights.

As for Halloween, I did think of dressing up as Domo Kun or the furry monster on sesame street that had a nose you could, well, honk like a horn.

Fave scary movie is Ju On. Dress up as Scarecrow, with a big pumpkin for a head.

Vik :
Fave scary movie is Quarantine. Dress up as a Vampire.


Hamster :
Fave scary movie is I.Am.Legend. (when I countered that the Will Smith flick wasn't really horror, he said, "different people find different things scary.") Dress up in nothing, on Halloween, all Hamster's gonna wear is his 'birthday suit'. I wait and see la.

Danial :
Fave scary movie is The Unborn. Dress up as a Hantu Pochong.




Azmi :

Fave scary movie is The Eye. Dress up as a Pokemon known as Squirtle! Too cute lor!

Fave scary movie is Sixth Sense (awesome movie, my fave too!) and I'd dress up as a psycho little girl like Esther from The Orphan!

My fave scary movie is 'Shutter' (ah, good choice, Ananda Everingham is gorge! But dayum that movie is freaky!) and I'd dress up as a school girl, like what we wore last week on OMG!

Yu Zhen :

Fave scary movie is Ju-On, I really enjoyed it, but thought the book was better (there was a book?!). I'd dress up as a....pumpkin!

Jojo :
My fave scary movie is the Hong Kong movie The Eye 10,  it like shows you ten ways to see ghosts. Its a parody with some really good frights! I would dress up as Elmo (aww!) for Halloween!


Joanna :
I don't watch horror at all, cos if I do I'll have to sleep with the lights on for a while! If I have to name one movie, I guess it would be 'Phobia', its one the few I actually watched, and I watched it covering my eyes and ears! I would dress up as Domokun cos it looks like a comfy costume to wear! (haha, Joanna and Dom can be Domokun together!)


Diyana :
My fave horror movie would be Child's Play, the original movie, not the sequels which were too sexual and I didn't like that. The original movie was freaky and its the one movie that opens all doors to all my fears! For Halloween I would dress up as a vampire!








Evy :
I don't watch horror cos I'm good at remembering visuals and if I see it it'll just stick with me. But from whatever I have seen, I guess Ju-On and Shutter are the two that have made the biggest impression on me. I would dress up as Frankenstein because I find him quite interesting, all zoned out and huge and tall. I'd wear those high platforms!
