Bye Bye Danny & Jigri Yaar :(

What the.....(Part 2)
Are you still shocked that Danny's out? The show's over and the voting lines are open but the thing that's on everyone's lips is that Danny's out - what the?

Bottom three this week was really telling - Danny, Jigri Yaar and Sean Harrison. Both Danny and Sean were tops on the judges' ranking last week, so my theory is this, everyone scrambled to vote up the rest and Danny's and Sean's fans didn't vote as much or more likely, got outvoted by those who were scrambling....

It was really sad to see Danny Goh, especially since he's been here since Day One. Jill-Marie avoided him cos she knew she would cry. Luminiq Crew were all really glum. The smiliest person was actually Danny, who kept reassuring everyone that he was just fine.

Kudos to producers for having the eliminated contestants perform with their kids anyway. Nice touch and I'm sure the kids all had fun. They certainly gave it their all. Check out the energy of the Jigri Yaar Bhangra kids.

Here's a quick exit interview I managed to get backstage with both Danny and Arwind from Jigri Yaar.

Thanks for the great performances guys. In the words of Glee - "Don't stop...believin'...."

xoxo, s.

ps. Look out for my review some time tomorrow. I gotta go watch the show again.

pps. Come on down to the roadshow this Saturday at Lot One @ 3pm. CJ Crew fans, it'll be a chance for you to get up close to them, its their first roadshow - come support!

Yawn. As if last week's episode wasn't enough, mediacorp gotta totally blow it this week.

Judges ranking were totally bulls***, or really is it us viewers know nothing about dance, singing, performing or any form of entertainment? Seriously Sean Harrison ranked top?! I had a hard time swallowing that given his performance last week, this week again? IMO I prefered that Superman performance, although it was nowhere near fantastic, compared to Jill(as a solo singer), pales in comparison.

And BJ... I meant CJ crew. Messy: all over the place performance with little originality.(Whats that.. erm androgynous guy doing there anyway? Is he part of the crew? He hardly qualifies as a child or kid if he was a part of the theme's ensemble lol)

They should have been at the bottom of the results. I'm sure many would agree on this.

Subpar performances and judges' questionable scores aside, producers failed BIG TIME in the concept of the show. What could have otherwise been a great program was sabotaged by poor planning and a really unfair system. Sure, you'd want to add more flavour to the show, adding new contestants etc, at the expense of the whole nature of the competition? Hello, this is a competition of $50k!? We ask for transparency! Singaporeans aint dumb you know.

Heart goes out to all the original top 8(and those few who were good and AT LEAST were entertaining), fans didn't vote enough, judges kelong or whatever, you guys are winners in your very own right. Now I do kinda feel abit bad for shooting Rhythm n moves previously, you guys performances were way much better than some of these new contestants.. to be honest.:)

Danny: you are a legend! Good job keeping the smiles despite the odds!

To all remaining top 8 contestants, please continue to rock, you have our(at least mine) support. Having followed the series from the very first episode, I have come to realise many of the old contestants are talented, or were at least entertaining most of the time. Producers... please at least choose new contestants wisely, or is Singapore's talents running out after so many weeks? If so, stop forcing new guys in every week and keep the competition fair.

  3. Sorry for the double post!

  4. To be fair Danny would eventually be out this week base on his weak exit performance with the children.

  5. You haven't seen Danny's performance with kids before then.. Please do not go around blasting him.. He went out with a bang..Fully respected and loved by all... Weak performance? Do you know hard it is to work with kids? He gave his best. Please be respectful enough to him and his fans and friends.

  6. I agree with what Joos has to say. The introduction of new challengers is not a very good idea, and to make everything worse, they are not up to standard.

And wth, Danny koh is out????

Anyway, it also isn't fair to say he would be out this week based on the exit performance with the kids.
His performance, in fact, was much better than what the new challenger has to offer. At the very least, the kids were enjoying themselves, Danny had great energy and showmanship, plus, it ain't easy to work with kids AND fire at the same time. Great work danny!

As for CJ Crew, I too had doubts about the 2 extra performers (in white). they're what, KIDS? or part of the crew but not part of what they call the 7-girl-kpop-group?

I have lost interest in OMG.

p.s. i thought i had bad judgement too, they think CJ Crew was good? and sean ranked #1?? LMQ had done a lot better.

  7. To joos,

Well said!! The competition is not fair from the start... Y muz bring in new challengers at this stage nw? Totally not fair to all the original top 8...

  8. I'm glad I'm not the only viewer to feel this way!

@anonymous 1: Fair? There's no fairness in the competition my friend lol. If what you said were true, basing on "weak" performance, then many should have been out long ago or not even allowed on the show, especially some of these new entrants.

P.S. Sean Harrison may actually possess some super powers! Maybe if he were to rip his shirt apart he would have been Superman underneath! That's why he is ranked top for 2 weeks! We need some kryptonite! lol

@Macy: That's right. BJ.. sorry I meant CJ crew's 2 big kids in white were hilarious. At least all the other teams actually made an attempt to give the kids(the real kids, not the pseudo "I'm forever 12 and below" big babies) a chance to have their own air time, instead of asking the real kids to come out at the start and end of the performance to "yay yay woo woo shake bum bum.. finish.".

No offence at the contestants, but ranking these days are really off. Judges: now you guys have the big "K" malay word on your foreheads.

Btw my favourite act was LMQ crew for the night, but alas, the "qualified" panel do not agree so, in fact, were not anywhere near my views.

Congrats to our favourite local tv station for making us all so pekchek after watching.

  10. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED for OMG show!

I have been supporting the production team and also the judges for the past few weeks although there are bad comments about their management and judgement. I thought it is really the voting that turns the table around. However, this week, I am 100% SUPER EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!

No offence but how can CJ Crew ever climb to 2nd position? I know they are technically strong in K pop BUT their dance has no originality. That super junior dance is so outdated. They did not fix well to the "school out' theme. The last part of the young kids are totally pointless.

LUMINIQ crew had the best performance yesterday. Everything is neat and the technique is there and their concept is good. It was a good collaboration with the kid as compared to the rest. Why aren't they first? How can they be even of lower ranking than CJ Crew and Jill when the judges gave all good comments to them and not to Jill? So is there anything wrong with the ranking?

Over the challengers' weeks, how come all challengers are not strong yet they just come in and be in the top? How come they do not fix to the theme and can still be in the top? then what is the purpose of setting a theme? Do you see and feel how wrong it is?

1st is Rhythm 'N' Moves, then vertical dancers and desert roses, now is Danny. They are all better than any challenger so far. Now I really wonder if this is really a fair competition?

Danny is the ONLY ONE contender who survives from the very first episode and he is GOOD. He has many things to show. I have never been so harsh on my words on summerr's blog but I am really sorry as this OMG is getting out of hand. I feel upset that i had lost my respect for OMG.

I feel sad for the original top 8 and in fact, those who manage to leave the show earlier, congrats! I think it means less torture. Those who are still fighting with all the new challengers, good luck! Hope you either win the $50,000 or gets kicked earlier so that you need not suffer further.

Dear voters, I think it is rather painful to keep spending money to call and support your idols. We are making Mediacorp richer but would you all ever make your idols richer with the $50,000? Haiz....

Feel sorry for the hosts too.

That's all...This is the end. Thanks to OMG for leaving audiences with so many disappointment at the end. This is so sad.

My last comment here for OMG! BYE and please do not produce the same competition again as this show does not really bring the best talents in Singapore.

  11. Even though Danny's exit performance was not as good as his previous ones, I think it was still better than Sean's. The judges' ranking was totally fake. How can Sean top the list? He butchered the cheerful song and made it sound sappy and sad. Did he top the list simply because he speaks with an accent? Obviously it's not from his singing voice!

Luminiq Crew on 4th place? C'mon! It must be Mediacorps' dirty marketing tactic. I think they just want more profit from SMS voting, knowing that people will vote for Luminiq Crew as the best performer in the entire show so far.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sorry Snowie, but Luminiq is another contender that went all the way together with danny. With danny now gone, Luminiq survived all the way :)

And yes, i totally agree with the way OMG handles the challengers, & the judges' ranking.
    It's really unbelievable..

  13. sean harrison is in cuz he's family fwennz with the judges, namely fd and beatrice's husband, aka beatrice. it's all a fake lah. damn stupid. and it's unfair too.

  14. absolutely no logic.

judges to lmq: good choreo, lil boy added value to performance, positive comments from all 4 judges.

judges to jill: bad song choice, 2nd song was messy, yada yada.

    but overall ranking: jill - 3rd, LMQ - 4th

    WHAT LOGIC????

  15. Bottomline is:

    REFEREES KELONG! BALEK KAMPUNG! lol..

Nowadays any Tom, Dick and Harry can just stroll into the competition and come in tops. It is really a waste of time and money investing precious eye power(some smses as well) into such a "started out well" but sadly turned to rubbish towards the ending show.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Who the HELL created the concept of this show? No brains. No logic. STUPID.

  17. you know what, i think i have decided to stop watching omg.

i will just read summer's reviews 1-2 days later.

save myself some heartbreak (and angst) should these sub-standard-last-minute additionals win the overall priZe.

  18. not even going to watch... afterall, the one I strongly support is out.. Still cant believe that Danny is out. :( may just sent in ramdom votes for lmq, jill and the baos!. The rest do not deserve my votes..that is base on my own thinking..they just came on the show without really battling out each week.

    ReplyDelete
  19. seeing th comments, mostly on the LMQ and Jill/Sean performances. Well, i think there's a criteria in the "marking" scheme. If that's the case, difficulty level will most likely be there, so yeah. It's harder to sing w kids than to dance w kids. Im not really supporting anyone here, just a general statement. On the contrary, i think LMQ did well better than CJ crew, and should deserve at least top 2. Sean and Jill was pretty alright, the Baos! not really happening. Well, just my sentiments :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. it's all set that way. the judges are biased. they put the people according to how they want to, not based on their performance. look at jill's kids. they were so good. and they were the best and most choreographed group of kids (besides luminiq), but jill's vocal performance pulled her down. however, sean sucked, and so did his kids. the judges are biased i tell you. they're trying to get rid of the old contenders one by one. can't you see that luminiq has been at the bottom for the past few weeks? and jill has been right smack in the middle? and they're OBVIOUSLY trying to hold sean's position becos like one of the anons said above, they know sean even before the competition. his family would be upset if he's out. there'll surely be a 'trend' just watch and see.

  21. has it occurred to anyone that since danny's been out alot of people are saying they aren't going to watch the show anymore? and that those people are most probably danny's fans? so if danny has so many fans, then they would have voted right? and if they voted, danny would have so little votes as to have to be eliminated, right? so maybe he actually got many votes, but since the show is SO SCREWED, they just anyhow eliminated him. do you get what i'm trying to say here? sorry, i'm ot really good at putting my thoughts to words
