Adding on to : After The Show : Sittin' with the first 6

Sorry Syltra!
Can't believe I didn't add your video - *bang head on wall* so blur.

Here's Syltra's Thank You vid that Iz filmed (but by now you'll all probably seen it somewhere :P) - better late than never?

btw Iz! love the yellow background - makes everyone seem so chirpy. The rest of the room is dead boring white! hahaha!

Syltra blew the audience away with her Black Horse & Cherry Tree. As you can see from this vid, she's bursting with energy, and her performance was exactly that, bursting at the seams with energy and personality.

Ken mentioned she shouldn't keep using her 'agression'. I didn't think she was aggressive, but I kinda understand what he's saying (and so did Syltra btw). I think he's saying that she has to be versatile, that she can't always do this type of full-on, in-your-face, energiser-bunny performances. She will have to be tone it down or colour it up depending on the genre for the week, and not interpret the songs only the Syltra-way (as per what we've seen on Wed night).

I'm sure as she grows with the show, the 'Syltra-way' will evolve (well at least I'm hoping it will).
At the moment, my money's been on this dark horse since theatre auditions, am watching to see if I should need to move my bets (LOL!). Still early to tell, since the other 12 haven't performed - I have a few other bets goin' on there - Gabby, Mae, Airi and this may surprise you.....Jonathan.

Ok, thats the add-on for my post. Syltra, sorry again that I missed you out. My bad.

Oh, and before I go, check out this cool post from Gabrielle. Loved the whole post from the loony (slightly) lipsyncing at the start to the very very profound poem in the middle (it spoke to me too!). And I love how she's still 'playing ball' with her ADD (ay-dee-dee) dog while recording this message - hilarious and so classic Gabby. How can you not love this girl?

Here's the poem for those of you who couldn't catch it...its called Risk....and this is how the cookie crumbles <-- :) this makes me smile...

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out to others is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas, your dreams,
before a crowd is to risk their loss. (like talking to the Idols rite?)

To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the
greatest hazard in life is to do nothing.
The people who risk nothing, does nothing,
has nothing, and is nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they cannot learn, feel, change,
grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes they are a slave;
and they've forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.

Wahlao Gabby read this so fast (ok for listening, difficult to follow type)...I replayed it at least 8 times! hahahha!
"Wait i put the music off cos its very serious..." <-- sorry I know you're being serious, but every time I heard this I LOL, so cute la you!"

Good pep talk Gabs, are you all listening Top 24 (yes all of you!).

Joining Idol is a big personal risk. The risk of self exposure is so great. I personally cannot do that, why do you think I hide behind this laptop (ok, I can't really sing either). I applaud everyone who had the courage to expose themselves by being on Idol. You put yourself out there to be judged by the public, AND the judges on National TV (and some say Batam and JB).
*Clap clap clap*

Have a great roadshow tomorrow Group 2 and an uneventful choreo session on Monday (read : no scolding and diva moments from Zaki).

Much love to muh LODIs and all the readers, thanks for following this blog! :)

xoxo, s.

ps. feeling all emo now after Gabby's poem ... *sniff* need to go hug the kids NOW.

  1. I can see why you place your bets on Gabrielle, Mae and Sezairi because that's who i am rooting for in the next group along with Sylvia. But Jonathan ?! Seriously ?! I think that was the judges biggest mistake in terms of who to put in the Top 24. The dude can't sing and mark my words he will not be in the Top 12. Unless the judges decide to put him through because they are high on crack or something. LOL.

  2. Thank you for intrepreting Uncle Ken's cryptic comments. Perhaps you can start a new entry every week to explain all his hidden messages. You can call it "Uncle Ken's - Tales of the Crypt" haha... sorry.. just joking. Sometimes I wonder why that man doesnt just speak plainly so that we dont have to decode his comments.

Anyway, I just wanted to commend you on the wonderful work you have done here and all the updates on Idol. I love your blog. Come here everyday. Its your style of writing, humour and the cheery format of your blog that is a big draw. Prefer it to the official blog... I dont go there much.

Just one suggestion though. Hmm... wonder if you can set some guidelines on how and what people should post. The hate comments are bad but when people start using profanities and make "sexual" comments (Tabitha's profile).... its just so disgusting! I know people may still not follow the guidelines but you can still delete those horrible comments, right? They might say its freedom of speech and all that but hey...Its YOUR blog and you can set whatever guidelines and delete whatever you want.

Sorry, dont mean to tell you what to do. Its just a suggestion. Thanks and keep up the good work! Cheers!

  3. Group 2 seems like a less talented group than the first one. I think if Frances and Theodore were in this group, they would get through for sure !! Despite some bad song choices..

  5. Hi guys thanks for the support and reading the blog. Noted about the 'comments' point.

Need to find the time to comb through the comments. Agree that sexual ones shouldn't be placed. Actually, I only just started blogging right before i got this 'assignment', any idea how I can get blogger to 'ping' me every time a comment comes up without setting the 'moderation' mode? Cos that one takes ages for a comment to go up, and you know how we all like to have our comments go up like immediately right?
